Aged Metal

Aged Metal is a refined rug design by Ferdod Haghighi, born from the weathered character of Seattle’s Pioneer Square’s historic façades. Since establishing his studio there in 2005, Haghighi has drawn inspiration from the richly distressed surfaces of the neighborhood — oxidized patinas, flaking paint, and the layered textures of long-neglected metalwork. He translated photographs of these aging walls and façades into a vocabulary of pattern and surface, reimagining incidental corrosion and structural decay as deliberate, elegant motifs.

Rendered in pure silk, Aged Metal elevates wornness into luxury. The design preserves the depth and complexity of the original finds — subtle gradations of tone, soft metallic sheens, and irregular, organic marks — while introducing refined elements and compositional balance suitable for sophisticated interiors. The resulting rugs convey both urban history and contemporary refinement: a tactile homage to place that reads as quietly opulent underfoot.
