Flaxen Starr

Flaxen Star was designed in the early 2000s by Ferdod Haghighi and remains a perennial classic. Initially conceived with a high-low texture—silk raised pile set against a looped flaxen ground—the design balances subtle sheen and tactile contrast. Alternate executions include an all-cut pile composed of mixed natural fibers such as hemp and nettle, introducing intriguing, innovative textures and a more rustic hand.

The motif reads as an all-over pattern and is typically produced at the scale shown, though the design adapts beautifully to custom proportions. Organic-shaped installations or bespoke rug orders are especially well suited to Flaxen Star, where the interplay of pile height and natural fiber variation enhances movement and depth across irregular edges.
